The Company

 

U.S. Financial Technology (U.S. FinTech) is seeking an experienced Principal, Cloud Solutions Architect to join our team of talented professionals. This is a full-time remote opportunity. 

 

U.S. FinTech built and operates the largest and most advanced mortgage securitization platform in the world, supporting the Uniform Mortgage-Backed Security (UMBS) of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Job Information

This role is responsible for hands-on development across the full cloud technology stack, strategic architecture decisions, and serving as the primary technical interface to client and U.S. FinTech leadership. Ensures delivery of scalable, secure securitization platforms while maintaining high engineering standards.

 

This role requires a strong technical and engineering foundation combined with technology governance expertise. The leader must be capable of engaging credibly with senior engineers, architects, cybersecurity professionals, data/AI functions, infrastructure/cloud teams, and application teams; understanding complex technology and related risks and controls; and translating business requirements into technical considerations.


Key Job Functions

 

  • Work across the full stack, building highly scalable distributed solutions that enable positive user experiences.
  • Develop new features and infrastructure in support of rapidly emerging business and project requirements.
  • Ensure seamless integration between front-end and back-end by designing and implementing APIs, data models, and communication protocols.
  • Ensure application security, performance, uptime, and scale through sound cloud infrastructure engineering.
  • Evaluate complex technology issues spanning cloud infrastructure, resiliency, performance, vulnerability management, technology lifecycle, observability, automation and emerging technologies.
  • Apply engineering and systems-thinking principles to evaluate technology risks, controls, architecture decisions, operational practices, and remediation approaches, ensuring governance is technically sound, proportionate to risk, and practical within U.S. FinTech's operating environment.
  • Drive modernization of Technology Governance through automation, data analytics and AI, including opportunities to automate control evidence, compliance monitoring, technology-risk identification, management reporting and governance workflows.
  • Partner with Technology and Risk stakeholders to establish pragmatic governance approaches for emerging technologies, including AI, ensuring controls and oversight remain risk-based, scalable and appropriate to the underlying use case.
  • Maintain high standards for code quality and application design.
  • Drive strategic technical direction and architecture decisions for the platform.
  • Lead technical design discussions and establish engineering best practices.
  • Identify engineering defects in the existing code base and constantly improve code quality.
  • Build executive business cases for opportunities for larger scale, long term improvements.
  • Serve as last line of technical support and escalation.
  • Work primarily in Java, SQL, TypeScript, React, JavaScript/HTML/CSS.
  • Design and implement SQL, GraphQL APIs and AWS serverless architecture.
  • Create infrastructure-as-code using AWS CDK and SAM.
  • Leverage AI tools for development and product enablement.
  • Participate in all aspects of agile software development, including design, implementation, and deployment.
  • Provide strategic oversight of budget and resource planning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, fostering collaboration, alignment, and effective communication to support business priorities and successful delivery of initiatives.
  • Serve as external face of the engineering team to client organizations and U.S. FinTech leadership.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams.
  • Maintain business continuation and customer satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education   

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Masters degree preferred.

Minimum Experience  

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in building large-scale software applications.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in an AWS environment.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring employer sponsorship currently or in the future. U.S. FinTech does not offer H-1B sponsorship for this position.

 

Specialized Knowledge & Skills     

  • Experience creating infrastructure-as-code (AWS CDK/SAM preferred).
  • Experience in building web applications (React experience a plus).
  • Experience designing and building relational database transactional applications.
  • Experience in designing and integrating RESTful APIs (GraphQL a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of Java/TypeScript/JavaScript and Python.
  • Experience with AWS serverless architecture and cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with AI development tools (eg. Amazon Q Developer/Kiro) and AI services (eg. Amazon Bedrock).
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills.
  • Experience in unit/integration testing.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop engineering talent.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • Thorough understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment methodologies.

 

Pay Range $208,500 to $235,750

U.S. FinTech's pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law. U.S. FinTech offers a competitive total compensation package, which includes a performance bonus, 401k match, healthcare coverage, PTO, and a broad range of other benefits.
